International conference on the Adoption of the European Educational Standards in Cross-Border Areas


On October 25-27 of 2012 in Pskov the international conference on the Adoption of the European Educational Standards in Cross-Border Areas will be held within the Russian Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).

The organizer of the conference is the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the direct executive is Pskov State University. It is supported by the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Administration of the Pskov Region, and assisted by the Consortium of the Universities participating in the EuroFaculty-Pskov Project, including University of Turku (Finland), Pskov State University (Russia), Roskilde University (Denmark), Trondheim Business School (Norway), Stockholm School of Economics, Russia (Russia), University of Latvia (Latvia), University of Tartu (Estonia), Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance (Russia).

Representatives of authorities, Russian and foreign Universities, IKBFU EF-K, BSRUN, EMA 2 and EuroFaculty-Pskov Project representatives are supposed to take part in the Conference.

The goal of the conference is to exchange experience and develop strategic directions of adoption of the european educational standards in cross-border areas.

Conference sections:

• Cross-border cooperation as a factor of socio-economic regional development.
• The role of universities in socio-economic regional development.
• Aspects of Europeanization of education in border regions.

Time restriction for reports at Plenary session is 20 minutes, time restriction for presentations at Sections is 10-15 minutes.
It is planned to publish the conference proceedings with the extended theses of the participants’ reports (up to 3 pages).
The working languages of the conference are Russian and English (simultaneous interpretation).

The number of participants is limited (200 people). If the registration form is received before September 10, 2012, free coffee-breaks, materials, guided tour, publication and no registration fee are guaranteed.
One day prior to the beginning of the conference – on October 24 2012 – a kick-off event devoted to launching of the second phase of the EuroFaculty-Pskov Project will be held.

Within the framework of the international conference on Adoption of the European educational standards in cross-border areas the social program is planned including guided tour of the ancient towns of the Pskov Region (tours of the city of Pskov, Izborsk fortress, Pechory Holy Dormition Monastery http://www.tourism.pskov.ru/).
